Thank you for stopping by. I am disabled writer with the ability to create at extreme levels of output. That has temporarily halted because I have been navigating a most stressful and dreadful time.

Once I have found safety, time, and space to complete my writing, I will pursue publishing.

Writing is all I want to do. My work is a little different though. Guidance could help provide the right suggestions to land this all how I imagine. I was an independent filmmaker as a youth, and began writing fiction to finally tell my stories as a parent. My influences are from that medium, as well as classic speculative fiction literature. I aim to write stories which can work for everyone on a surface level, that stow depth for people who enjoy layered nuance. My stories are meant to engage personal creativity in the reader, but currently take that to an illogical extreme by leaving out visuals, dialogue, and action too much. I’ve been working on the balance.

After writing screenplays for such a time, lamenting slow moving tedium in prose based fiction, I have aimed to ‘take back exposition’. You’re supposed to use that when writing for the page, if you ask me. So, I make everything poetic and enjoy the freedom that allows. I write psychologically inspired by Ian McEwan, fantastically inspired by Iain M. Banks, and efficiently inspired by Octavia Butler.

I am a fan of Jack Vance, Gene Wolfe, Ursula K. Le Guin, Vernor Vinge, Ian McDonald, Ada Palmer, and Dan Simmons. Don’t ask me about Thin Air by Richard Morgan.

My favorite thing to do is write subversively, making ‘dorky’ things too cool. Many of my stories are filled with queer and trans people. I imagine that enabling performers to take the roles who aren’t trans, if they were to be adapted. Many of them could be played both ways, and we’re just everywhere in my science fiction.

Daphne I have tired a lot of pen names.
